Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) is used to determine the combined effect of temperature, humidity, solar radiation and wind speed on people. The military, industrial hygienists and athletes use it to determine safe exposure limits in high temperature environments.
The WBGT index was developed by the United States Marine Corps and today many military installations will display a certain colored flag to indicate the heat category based on the WBGT index. The American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists publishes threshold limit values that are widely accepted and adopted for workplace safety.
The Sper Scientific WBGT Heat Stress Meter is a light-weight measurement instrument compact enough to carry anywhere to avoid heat exhaustion in public health, sports, military and industrial activities.
